Travelling to Mars

Travelling to Mars
Yesterday I read some astonishing news in a newspaper. The headline was:  'Two Spanish people have been selected to go to Mars'. This strange trip is only one way. People will go there  but they will never come back. This is as if you buy a single ticket without return.

When I read the news I thought of the advantages and disadvantages of that. First of all you become famous (another question is: Is this important?). Moreover you can create a new saga because I suppose that the new inhabitants will be your descendants and finally you can go down in history because you are the first human who will live in Mars.

But this important and transcendental decision has disadvantages. The first inconvenient  that comes to my head is that you could never see and touch your family and friends again. Despite this unique opportunity  you can’t take your personal belongings, this things are our life. And, last but no least,  you’ll never come back to our planet and perhaps the life in Mars could be very dangerous and very boring.

All in all I prefer resting at home within my family, friends and things. Perhaps I think that  because I'm not young any more.    Author: Enric Ariño
